At the heart of the Christmas story, do not be afraid

Around the birth of Jesus, angels appeared to Joseph, Mary and the shepherds.

There was a common thread, as well, in what they said.

“Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife…”

Matthew 1:20

But the Angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favour with God.”

Luke 1:30

But the Angel said to them (the shepherds), “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”

Luke 2:9
