Windy weather, choppy sea and the importance of safety when fishing off rocks

As long as your bait’s in the water though you’ve always got a chance.

The float dipped regularly, as the hook caught on rocks and kelp but when it went sailing away, I knew I had a fish on.

It fought very well indeed, especially as it used the pull of the tide to its advantage.

After a brief but feisty battle though, I brought it in and got it safely to where I had set up camp.

After yesterday’s ballan wrasse it was nice to get a bass.
