Just a few minutes from where I live is the South Staffordshire Railway Walk (SSRW).
Originally it was a working railway line, with construction beginning two years before the start of World War I.
During the Second World War, it was used to transport injured soldiers to local hospitals following the D-Day landings.
Falling foul of the 1965 Beeching Report, the last train ran on June 24, 1965.
