The second chub was bigger than the first and its throat was full of bread, which is what you want to see.

The next fish on was a real surprise, a perch in excess of two pounds that picked up the bread but shed the hook on the way to the net.
This was followed by a pike that hung on to the cage feeder as I reeled in before realising it wasn’t edible and letting go.
