I had planned to visit a new stretch of the River Severn, and as it was downstream of Shrewsbury, the plan was unaffected by the traffic situation.
The river is very low anyway at the moment and the section in question is consistently shallow.
I walked a long distance, looking for deeper water but I didn’t find any.
In the end I set up and fished anyway.
A 1/4 ounce lead easily held bottom and I fished one/two maggots on a size 14 hook.
