A very early canal fishing session, the heatwave, morning run and radio slots recorded

The depth was five feet and I nipped on a size 4 shot about four inches from the hook.

That served the purpose of getting the bait down quickly and also as an anchor in the flow.

Apart from that shot, the other two were either side of the float.

I fed brown crumb, maggots and prawns.

After catching lots of perch and a bream, I switched to a size 10 Drennan Super Specialist hook and a prawn.

That’s what enticed the biggest perch, so definitely a case of quality over quantity as I had just the one on prawn.
