Before Church, Small Brook Fishing

I didn’t intend to go fishing this morning, but waking up early as I usually do, I looked out the window and saw that there had been no overnight frost.

It’s the first time in a while it’s been ice-free, so, with time on my side, I decided to get out.

I enjoyed myself so much yesterday fishing for sticklebacks, that’s where I headed again today.

The fishing was excellent, with lots of fish in a short period of time.

There were also some specimens in with them as well, and that’s one of them in the video lead image.

I’ve had a few comments from other anglers along the lines that they’re thinking of targeting sticklebacks.

If you’re in that category, check out all the related blog entries here.

The tackle fished with was as follows:

Poachers Pocket mini-rod and reel.

Reel line was 4lb Maxima Chameleon, leading to Ultima Virage 1lb 6oz fluorocarbon, joined by a loop-to-loop knot.

There was a size 6 shot about four inches from the hook.

The hook was a Drennan Super Specialist size 18 with a single white maggot as bait.

I use a white maggot as it stands out better in the water.
