The Penultimate Session Of 2021, Canal Fishing For Perch

With a couple of days to go before we say farewell to the year, that means two more angling sessions.

In the first of those, I set off for the Staffordshire/Worcestershire Canal.

There are some nice perch all along the canal and I’ve caught from numerous stretches.

On this occasion, I fished a section that I’ve been on in the past, although I’ve never banked anything particularly big from there.

This time though, I netted a brace of decent perch, with the lead image the biggest of the two.

You can follow the session in the video below.

The tackle and approach were as below.

Greys Prodigy 12’ rod and a Shimano 3500 reel loaded with Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.

There was 4 feet length of 3lb 8oz Drennan Team England joined by a loop-to-loop knot.

The float was a 0.6g Drennan Crystal Waggler. The hook was a Drennan Super Specialist size 18.

I fished the boat channel, with brown crumb and mixed maggots and single white maggot on the hook.
