I was up early this morning for a lure session on a pool.
In pursuit of my favourite species, perch, I was fishing with a 1g jig head and a small rubber fish.
I knew after a certain number of casts that it was going to be a tough session, so when I struck into a good fish I was naturally hoping that I would land it.
I was thinking that this might be the only bite of the cherry that I would get.
It wasn’t a perch, though, but a pike that snatched at the two-inch glider.
It was so close as well, with the hook and the fish parting company in the landing net.
Plus, I’m making a habit of this, but once again the rod ended up in the water.
