The pre-match media preparations, as far as I was concerned, included the preview and the press conference with The New Saints’ head coach.
The game itself ended 1-0 to The New Saints. Goalless at the break, it was a Declan McManus penalty that ultimately proved to be all that separated the sides come the final whistle.
The referee initially allowed play to continue regarding the penalty, then blew his whistle. After consulting with the assistant referee, the spot-kick was given.
Right at the end – in the sixth minute of added time – the home side thought they had equalised.
Again, after consultation with the assistant, it was disallowed.
The New Saints now has a six-point lead at the top, with Bala Town in second.
The gap between the leaders and Connah’s Quay Nomads is thirteen points.
Following the game, I interviewed head coach, Anthony Limbrick, and captain, Chris Marriott.
This was my 26th game of the season and there’s more on my groundhopping pages here.
