Behind The Media Scenes, As The New Saints Extend The Lead At The Top

As far as media is concerned, the focus on the next game begins once everything is wrapped up after the previous one.

With The New Saints hosting Barry Town United on JD Cymru Premier MD6, one of the first tasks is to write the match preview and publish on the club website.

We do an in-house press conference ahead of each game with the head coach, Anthony Limbrick, and that’s published and shared on the club’s social media platforms.

As well as fans who watch, that also becomes a source of material for journalists, ranging from those who run their own websites to BBC.

On match day, I like to get behind the scenes footage and will then produce a short video, which again is shared across TNS’ social media accounts.

During the game, there’s commentary on TNS Radio. When you take into account the small attendances at games in Wales, the listening figures are very good.

The match this time ended 3-1 to The New Saints, who took the lead in the nineteenth minute, courtesy of Jordan Williams.

That lasted ten minutes before Ash Baker put the ball into the back of his own net.

Five minutes into the second period, Ash made amends by restoring the lead, and deep into added time, Declan McManus wrapped up the three points.

Dec went into the game on ninety-nine career goals and I said to him during the week, score and there’s a post-match interview.

You couldn’t ignore Jordan Williams, though, with a goal and two assists.

So, we did two player interviews after the final whistle. That’s the one with Jordan, in the lead image.

Plus there was the usual interview with the head coach.

With Flint Town United losing at Haverfordwest County, it means The New Saints now has a four-point gap at the top.
