At the recent game in Belfast between Glentoran and The New Saints, one of the home supporters wanted to come on the radio, as I was doing the commentary.
Obviously, with COVID restrictions, we’re not allowed to pass microphones around at the moment.
Plus, he was very drunk as well and you never know what people might say when they’re live on air!
Listening in was a Belfast journalist, who telephoned me a couple of days later, looking for a story.
In all honesty, I had forgotten about the incident. It wasn’t even an issue for me but the story did appear in the Sunday version of the Belfast Telegraph.
I wouldn’t say I was shocked though, far from it. I was even joking about it with other journalists after the game, who had seen what happened from the press box.
The image from the newspaper was sent by one of my Northern Ireland football friends, who let me know about the article.
