If You’re Cold, Chuck Yourself In The Cut – A Morning Session On The Staffs/Worcs

Although it’s a lovely day now, it was chilly first thing this morning. In fact, there was ice on the car before I set off for the canal.

The air temperature was 0.9C when I arrived, although the water reading was 13.1C.

The important thing to bear in mind, as an angler, is that the two don’t fluctuate at the same rate. The latter is far more stable than the latter.

I caught small bream and you can see more in the short video that I recorded on the bank.

I fished with a Greys Prodigy 12’ rod and a Shimano 3500 reel loaded with Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.

There was 5 feet length of 2lb 8oz Ultima Virage fluorocarbon joined by a loop-to-loop knot.

The float was a 0.6g Drennan Crystal Waggler. The hook was a Drennan Super Specialist size 18.

I fished the boat channel, with brown crumb and mixed maggots and single white maggot on the hook.
