Up With The Dawn Chorus On The Staffs/Worcs Canal

Although I set the alarm this morning, I was up well before it anyway. It meant that I was on the bank even earlier than normal.

I’m enjoying the angling habit that I’m into at the moment, it fits in nicely with everything else that’s going on.

That’s the key, really, to ensure that you can get more fishing in, work out what you need to do to make it happen.

I’m also enjoying catching the occasional big gudgeon as well from the canal.

I fished with a Greys Prodigy 12’ rod and a Shimano 3500 reel loaded with Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.

There was 5 feet length of 2lb 8oz Ultima Virage fluorocarbon joined by a loop-to-loop knot.

The float was a 0.6g Drennan Crystal Waggler. The hook was a Drennan Super Specialist size 18.

I fished the boat channel, with brown crumb and mixed maggots and single white maggot on the hook.
