2.50 p.m.
I’m going to have an hour live blogging from the living room/kitchen windows. Ahead of kick-off, it looks very quiet indeed out there. Let’s see what turns up, shall we.
3.00 p.m.
First bird, a robin, feeding on the lawn beneath the feeding station. Six wood pigeon in flight. Two great tit in a neighbour’s garden.
3.05 p.m.
Magpie on neighbour’s roof. A female sparrow hawk in flight over the wooded valley. We had a male in the garden yesterday, attacking birds on the feeding station.
3.10 p.m.
Not much showing. It is a late one from my part though, and after all, today is the shortest day of the year. Nothing at all on our feeding station.
3.20 p.m.
Two great tit, four wood pigeon, one blue tit and three magpie. Not much in terms of flight, the birds look as if they’re waiting to roost.
3.30 p.m.
Solitary great black-backed gull in flight over the valley. Two carrion crow in flight. First bird on our feeding station, a coal tit after peanuts.
3.40 p.m.
Coal tit flew into the garden to take up a roosting position. We have evergreen trees and ivy, so ideal for that. I didn’t blog about it, but I ‘met’ a badger the other day, a few houses away.
3.50 p.m.
Almost dark now. Three carrion crow, one magpie, one lesser black-backed gull in flight. Also a wagtail but not able to identify whether grey or pied.
Ten species identified, which I was pleased with. Very slow but if you seek you will find.
