It’s That Fine Line Again, A Nice Roach Keeps Me On The Right Side Of It Though

I was on the canal bank at first light again this morning. As I’ve got a working game in the JD Cymru Premier this afternoon, it was a very short session by necessity today.

The perch didn’t want to play this morning, and although I had a few roach bites, I netted just the one fish.

As you can see from the image though, it was a good one, and especially so from the venue where small roach are the ones you normally catch.

I fished the boat channel, which of course, is where you’ll find the deeper water. In the absence of other features, that’s where to go during the colder months of the year.

Next stop, it’s The New Saints FC v Penybont FC. Let’s go.

I fished with a Greys G Lite spinning rod (4-8lb) and a Shimano DL2500FA reel.

Maxima Chameleon 4lb reel line went straight through and the hook length was created by a 5mm bead and a size 6 shot.

The lead was a 1/4 ounce bomb.

Double red maggot was fished on a Drennan Super Specialist size 16 hook.
