The story behind the photographs can be found via the video below. They are of my father-in-law, Tom Whitehouse, who sadly passed away ten years ago.
You can see the angle that I’m coming from as well, with the references to friendship. I’m reminded of the verse in the Bible that tells us:
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
John 15:13
At the start of the video, I make reference to my dog snoring alongside me. I was going to go into another room to record but I didn’t.
The fact that she’s alongside me, yet totally oblivious to what I’m talking about is powerful imagery.
There are sadly many in our nation who have no idea whatsoever of the history that has shaped us, and given us so much to be proud of, as we look back.
Today, especially, we remember.
