Not A Bad Way To Spend A Monday Morning

I’m very busy at the moment, much more so than normal, however, one of the things that I’m determined to do is to keep fishing.

Even if it’s just a short session at the start of the day, I’m more than happy with that. I can then get on with everything else.

That was the case this morning, when I was up for an hour lure fishing on the canal at first light. That’s where this type of angling is perfect.

There were a couple of early boats, and one person said to me as they passed, that it was not a bad way to spend a Monday morning,

Indeed it was, and regardless of what the rest of the day holds, it was great to start it at the water’s edge.

The perch, my favourite species

Like yesterday morning, I had a couple of half-hearted plucks. Unlike the previous session though, I went on to catch.

It’s always good to slip your first fish in the net. After perch, right at the end I had what most certainly a pike take.

It was only on briefly but it was very interesting because I’ve never had an Esox from that section, ever.

Fishing is great isn’t it, you never know what’s out there. Back home, showered and getting on with the rest of the day, I’ll be lure fishing again tomorrow morning.

The tackle I fished with was as follows: Fox Rage Ultron drop shot rod, Fox Rage Ultron 2500 reel, 10lb Sunline braid on reel.

Fox Rage Illusion fluorocarbon 10lb 3oz (2 metres) joined to the braid with a small swivel.

Fox Rage micro jig head 1g size 4 hook. Berkley powerbait 2 inch rubber minnow. All knots (3) blood knots.
