Better Late Than Never – An Evening Session On A Black Country Canal

There’s more in the video below, as I managed to get a short session in after work. The days are getting shorter now and that, in due course, will affect my fishing.

Not in an adverse way, just simply that I’ll change and adapt to suit the conditions. As far as the shorter evenings are concerned though, that means more fishing in the dark, that’s all.

The fish came on the last cast, hence the title. It’s a fine line sometimes and it’s often just one fish that puts you on the right side of it.

The rod I fished with was a 12’ Greys Prodigy TX and the reel was a Shimano DL2500FA, loaded with 4lb Maxima Chameleon.

Joined by a loop-to-loop knot, there was a 12” length of Ultra Virage fluorocarbon 2.5lb line to a Drennan Super Specialist size 14 hook.

The float was a Drennan 3BB crystal waggler. I fished with double maggot on the hook over brown crumb / loose maggots.
