I’m off to Cardiff for my first football game of the 2020/2021 season later, but before then, I was up bright and early for my eleventh angling session of the month.

The tackle I fished with was as follows: Poachers Pocket mini-rod and reel.
Reel line was 4lb Maxima Chameleon, leading to Drennan Team England 1lb 6oz line, joined by a loop-to-loop knot.
I nipped a size 4 shot on the line and the hook was a Drennan Super Specialist micro barbed size 18. Bait was a single white maggot.
I think I have an ultralight rod among the tackle stored here in Chester. Now to find a brook in the vicinity of the Walled City. On another matter, Stewart did you see the terrific and quite moving documentary about Liverpool band The Real Thing which was broadcast on BBC 4 on Friday night? If not worth catching up on the I player.
It’s a great way of fishing, Dave. Even the tiniest of brooks can hold a few surprises.
Didn’t see the documentary but I’ve watched quite a few on there on weekends, some really good music ones.
Like you Stewart I can remember as a kid fishing for Sticklebacks , this in a brook near Ormskirk in Lancashire. I will have to study the Ordnance survey map for Cheshire and Cheshire West to find some tiny watercourses.
It really does bring back the memories. Plenty of brooks in places where access is no problem either
