The Isley Brothers – My Favourite Track

Although they’ve had a long and illustrious career, The Isley Brothers’ time with Motown was relatively short-lived, having joined in 1965 and left three years later.

Associated with the classic, This Old Heart Of Mine, and to a lesser extent, Behind A Painted Smile, there were just six other singles released during the Motown era.

The two aforementioned tracks were their biggest chart successes in the UK, reaching three and five respectively.

Even though I like both songs very much, along with I Guess I’ll Always Love You, Little Miss Sweetness and Put Yourself In My Place, among many others, it’s an album track that is my own personal favourite.

They only recorded two albums while at Motown – This Old Heart Of Mine and Soul On The Rocks – and it’s the latter that provides Catching Up On Time.

I can remember when I heard it for the very first time and immediately the catchy intro alone hit the spot. The rest of the song sealed it.

    1. And recorded it themselves in the fifties. A long and illustrious career indeed!

    1. That’s a great track, I’ve got that on CD. From the Soul On The Rocks album.
Although it’s a standard release album, to me it’s like a greatest hits!
