The Mini-Rod And Reel Puts In Another Appearance – This Time It’s Rudd On The Menu

I’ve been fishing with my mini-rod and reel set-up for some time now. It’s been particularly useful when I’ve been grabbing a quick session on the way to work.

As it’s already made-up and fits easily in the boot of the car, it’s convenient and ideal. However, I enjoy fishing with it in its own right, not just as a second-best option.

Fishing from a platform into a lake, with dense reed beds either side, my target species was rudd. Not as widespread as other fish, nevertheless they aren’t rare or particularly hard to come by.

The tackle I fished with was as follows: Poachers Pocket mini-rod and reel. Reel line was 4lb Maxima Chameleon, leading to Ultima Virage 1lb 6oz fluorocarbon, joined by a loop-to-loop knot.

The float was hand-made and the hook was a Drennan Super Specialist micro barbed size 12.

Bait was a single grain of corn and I loose fed brown crumb and corn.
