Since I began working for The New Saints FC, right at the start of the 2014/2015 season, I’ve taken an interest in the ladies’ football team. That has, of course, meant attending numerous games and covering them for the club’s website and social media accounts.
In 2019, I saw TNS Ladies FC lift the Tom Farmer Cup again, something they’ve done every season since I’ve been at the club. This time round, the game was played at Shrewsbury Town’s Montgomery Waters Meadow stadium.
The 9-1 victory, on May 12, against Shifnal Town Ladies FC, was actually my final match of the 2018/2019 season. It was also number 108 on my personal groundhopping adventures, a journey that had started twelve months previously, when I watched Ysceifiog FC take on Llandyrnog FC.
In addition to pitch-activity, I’ve also been honoured to host TNS Ladies FC’s presentation evening each year. That’s the lead image, with manager, Lawence Wilson, and captain, Phoebe Davies. It’s also where the video, below, comes from.
This was my last activity of 2018/2019, a campaign that started 376 days earlier, on June 4, 2018. The price of being involved with a successful club is that they’re long seasons. In fact they overlap, so there’s always something going on. No rest for the wicked, as they say.
