Ramsbottom United 3 Tadcaster Albion 0. An Enjoyable Afternoon In Lancashire.

One of the benefits of working in the world of football is that I get to visit grounds that I probably wouldn’t normally go to as a matter of course. That was the case this time round, as I made a first visit to the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium, the home of Ramsbottom United.

The purpose of my journey into the traditional county of Lancashire was to accompany John Rhodes, The New Saints FC’s Head Of Recruitment, and to cover the game from his angle. Although Ramsbottom is in the Metropolitan Borough of Bury and the Metropolitan County of Greater Manchester, I always think in terms of our historic counties when placing somewhere geographically.

I have produced separate blog entries from the perspective of John, as well as an interview with Ramsbottom’s secretary, Tony Cunningham. They will be following this post, so check them out.

Tony was very friendly and welcoming and I immediately liked him. I enjoyed the game and although it was a working one, it certainly wasn’t as intense as my usual ones with TNS FC, that involve radio commentary, filming, photography and several interviews.

John was there to cast his eye over Josh Hmami, who is on loan at the Rams, from The New Saints. The home side took all three points as they maintained their lead at the top of the Northern Premier league (North West) and it was good to see Josh in action.

I produced a short video that you can view below. This was my 68th game of the season and my 24th new ground. You can visit my groundhopping pages here.

Welcome to my website, blogging life’s journey from a personal perspective. There’s more information on the home page.
