Obviously, working in the beautiful game means I get to watch a certain number of matches anyway before I even think about groundhopping adventures. The final one of 2019 – and my 97th of the year – was a working one though, as Cefn Druids visited The New Saints in the JD Cymru Premier.
Having beaten the Ancients just four days before on Boxing Day, the reigning champions were strong favourites to secure the three points. However, it was Cefn Druids who took the lead, and with the clock ticking down, looked to be heading for all three points.
However, in the dying seconds of normal time, Greg Draper levelled the score. Then, deep into added time, Dean Ebbe found the net to ensure that The New Saints went into 2020 top of the pile.
