Last Saturday I was in Flintshire, watching The New Saints beat Airbus UK Broughton 12-0. Three days later, it’s a much closer scoreline, as the champions of Wales beat Carmarthen Town 1-0 at Park Hall.
It was a late goal, as well, with Kurtis Byrne popping up in the 87th minute to secure the victory. However, whether it’s a convincing win or a slender margin, it’s still just three points. In this instance, it took TNS to the top of the table.
Although the focus will be on Scott Ruscoe’s side, you have to give credit to the visitors. Carmarthen came with a game plan and it almost worked. They were well-organised, and looking on you wouldn’t have thought that they were rooted at the bottom of the table, with just one win from sixteen games.
This was my 50th game of the season so far and you can view the list here. The video below is of the teams coming out of the tunnel, prior to kick-off.
